29/1/10 SOUTH AUSTRALIAN CHAMPIONSHIPS

Well done to all swimmers, coaches and team managers that participated in the recent SA State Championships.  The results achieved were outstanding from both an individual and team perspective.  In addition to finalists and medal winners, special congratulations to all those that made their first finals or achieved their first Victorian or National Age qualifying times.

21/1/10 OPEN WATER TIME TRIAL

SV conducted an Open Water Time Trial at lake Nagambie on 20 January.  Given that Lake Nagambie is the site for next month's Australian Open Water Championships it was a great opportunity for some of our swimmers to get some first hand familiarisation with the course without the pressure of competition upon them.  Tom Crabb and Seb Cumins were also chasing 5km qulaifying times which they both achieved for their age groups.  Our visiting Canadian, Caitlin Nolan, completed the 10km event.

21/1/10 VictORIAN OPEN CHAMPIONSHIPS

Last weekend saw the 2010 Victorian Championhips drew to a close with the completion of the Open Championships.  With Adelaide on the immediate horizon only a few swimmers competed.  It was great to see the Womens 1500m event reinstated into the program and Surrey park well represented in the final on Sunday night with Tess Stevens achieving a silver medal.

In the combined point score across the 12/U, Age and Open events, Surrey Park finished a very respectable 9th (8th Victorian Club) which was an improvement from our 2009 position in both total points and overall standing.

11/1/10 VictORIAN AGE CHAMPIONSHIPS

After 5 days of competition, the Victorian Age Championships drew to a close on Sunday.  Whilst with every competition there were highs and lows, there were indeed many positives that came from the meet which will enable our swimmers and coaches to prepare for the challenges that lay ahead in the coming weeks and for the remainder of the season.  Our younger team members continue their development with Seb Cumins and Hamish McDougall achieving their first National Age qualifying times during the competition. It was also pleasing to see others also achieve National Age qualifying times in their bid to requalify.  Also the return of some of our swimmers to the competition pool after injury and illness was a great sight.  In this respect it was good to see Cameron Crabb back and racing.   Congratulations to all team members for their contribution.  Special mention to our medal winners – Eugene Tee, Mun Hon Lee, Max Halson, Hamish McDougall, Seb Cumins and Tess Stevens.  The team finished in 9th position overall with Eugene receiving a special age group award for his overall performance during the competition.

21/12/09 12/Under VICTORIAN CHAMPIONSHIPS

Our 12 & under swimmers kicked off our State Championship campaign in fine style over the weekend.  In often difficult circumstances and rushed scheduling, the team finished in 4th place which is an improvement over our 12th placing last year.   Well done to all team members (Millie Simpson, Phoebe Dammer-Smith, Alexandra Good, Laura Powell, Mollie Hall, Sarah Martin, Khazza Lay, Leo Wong, Carlos Berbia, Patrick Brenchley, Tom Golding, Joshua Holding and Connor Xu).  Special congratulations to medal winners Leo Wong and Alex Good.

We now look to our age group swimmers to continue on with the high standards set when they compete at the State Age Championships  on 6-10 January 2010.

 23/11/09 NEW WEBSITE

In a few weeks time, the Club will launch a new website.  The new site will have some features which should enable us to improve our level of service in terms of billing accuracy as well as an improved availability nomination for swimmers wishing to attend meets.
