Committee of Management

The role of the Committee of Management is to exercise good governance with respect to the strategic and operational requirements of the Club. The Committee is elected at the Annual General Meeting and meets on a regular basis, generally once a month or as required, throughout the season.

The Committee of Management is composed of an Executive Committee as well as a General Committee and is supported by various sub-committees such as the Swimming Sub-Committee.

Surrey Park Swimming Club is an athlete centred, coach driven and parent supported club.  The Club maintains a coaching staff that is comprised of both full-time professional coaches as well as supplementary casual staff.   If your questions are related to workouts, meets, events, goal setting, and other swimming related needs, please contact one of the coaches.

Dave Kelsheimer

Dave has enjoyed a successful international coaching career having coached swimmers at World Championships, Olympic Games, Commonwealth Games and Pan American Games. Dave, regarded as a ‘coaching visionary’ in some circles, enjoyed outstanding success as the Cayman Islands National Coach in qualifying three swimmers in six events for the Olympics - an amazing achievement given constraints of absence of 50m pool space as well as overcoming the inertia of competitive swimming not enjoying a high public profile.

Dave joined Surrey Park as Head Coach/General Manager in 2006 and since then has been instrumental in the structured development of club swimmers which has resulted in a marked improvement of the Club at State and National level competitions.

Amy Macdonald

Coach Amy is a professional coach who maintains a high degree of passion and enthusiasm across all aspects of swimming.  A Bronze licensed coach, Amy has as strong background in the practical and business aspects of swimming having performed a number of key roles in her home state of Queensland ranging from swim instructor, swim school manager, pool complex manager and team coach.  Amy has benefited from the experience of coaching and operating businesses in conjunction with Australian Paralympic Head Coach, Brendan Keogh as well as participation in professional development opportunities with Australian Team Coach, Michael Bohl.

Amy was a recipient of a 2009/2010 Women in Sport Scholarship from the Australian Sports Commission.

Mark Cooper

Coach Mark is a Bronze Licence Coach who has been coaching for the past 3 years.  He has been a member on the coaching staff of CA Tritons and at Northwave Swimming Club in his home town of New Zealand.  Mark will provide coaching support for all squads.

Justin Bell

Junior Assistant Coach (Full Time)

A third generation Surrey Park swimmer and former Club Captain, Justin is a qualified Bronze Licence Coach and is a qualified Austswim instructor.  Justin also holds a Certificate III and IV in gym instruction and personal training. Justin provides coaching support for all squads but is the primary coach for the Seals and Penguins squads.

Meghan Taylor

Coach Meghan has come to Surrey Park from the  US.  She has been coaching in Biloxi, Mississippi for the past 7 years

Meghan has been a USA Swimming certified coach since 2007, ASCA level 2 member since 2008, and American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor since 2006.  Meghan majored in Sport Coaching Education at The University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, Mississippi were she focused on biomechanics and kinesiology.  She has served on the Mississippi Swimming House of Delegates panel as Secretary since 2008 and was elected assistant coach and team manager for the 2009 Mississippi Zone Team. 

Coach Meghan met Dave and the Surrey Park National Squad in 2009 during the "2009 Cayman and USA Tour" at the Gold Medal Swim Camp where she served as camp manager, coach, and counsellor.  Meghan works with the Swim School and assists with all levels within the Club's squad program
